the desert botanical garden had its annual spring
plant sale over the weekend. the weather was perfect and
I found a couple desert marigold plants that will look
great under my palo brea tree.

a word about something as mundane as a crosswalk signal

i'm glad to see these count-down signals
more and more. so much more useful
to know how much time you have to
cross the street, or as a driver to know
how long before the light will change. my
all time favorite cross signals (seen in oaxaca)
combined a visual count down with an audible
count down that sounded like bird tweets.

carnival weather

the original ferris wheel was designed and constructed
by george washington gale ferris for the 1893 world's
columbian exposition in chicago, illinois. the wheel
pictured here was part of a parking lot carnival at the
arizona mills mall.
