on easter, families were celebrating in a variety of ways;

middle eastern families were flying kites along a hilltop;

festive music played, kids laughed and did their best

to keep their kites aloft.

holiday in the sun

easter sunday weather was gorgeous,

prompting hundreds of families to spend the day

at kiwanis park (baseline/mill)

absolutely fabulous

the weather in tempe is so absolutely fabulous in

the spring. this new stretch along the salt river

corridor just east of tempe lake (rural to mcclintock)

was recently opened with a bike/jogging path. the flowers

on the slope are a dazzling mix of purple and gold.

dana smith, a regular at the tempe art festival for

many years, performs his own blend of fun: tricks, jokes,

juggles and balancing balls on the street.

there were all kinds of things going on in Tempe last

weekend, a photographer or outdoor enthusiast's feast;

dragon boat races were underway on the north side of the

lake and I'll show other happenings throughout the week.

the desert botanical garden had its annual spring

plant sale over the weekend. the weather was perfect and

I found a couple desert marigold plants that will look

great under my palo brea tree.

a word about something as mundane as a crosswalk signal

i'm glad to see these count-down signals

more and more. so much more useful

to know how much time you have to

cross the street, or as a driver to know

how long before the light will change. my

all time favorite cross signals (seen in oaxaca)

combined a visual count down with an audible

count down that sounded like bird tweets.
